A man allegedly involved in a hit-and-run in the downtown Los Angeles area led deputies on a brief chase Tuesday in a transit van to East Los Angeles, where he was taken into custody after stopping at a business and running inside.
Deputies began chasing the suspect in the downtown area, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and reports from the scene.
The suspect is believed to have struck several vehicles, resulting in at least one possible injury, and the van had a broken driver's-side mirror.
The pursuit went onto the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway and then onto surface streets at Garfield and Gage avenues. At about 10:10 a.m., the suspect pulled into a business parking lot near Bickett and East 54th streets, stopped the van and got out.
