A man died on a Metro bus in Koreatown Thursday after he was pepper-sprayed by another man.

It happened at the intersection of Western Avenue and Olympic Boulevard just before 11 p.m., a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told City News Service.

The incident began when two men got into an argument inside the bus. At one point, one of the men pepper-sprayed the other man.

LAPD homicide detective Herman Frettlohr told KNX News Jon Baird the victim, described as a man in his 60s, died on the bus.

“By the time the ambulance got there, he had stopped breathing,” he said. “They attempted CPR for about 25, 29 minutes and he didn't respond to it and they determined his death on the bus.”

Frettlohr added there was no apparent evidence of a stabbing or shooting and that there were passengers on he bus that did not stay to talk to police.

It’s unclear what exactly caused the man’s death. Details regarding the argument were also not revealed at this time.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s. He took off before police arrived.
