VENICE (CNS) - Authorities Wednesday identified a man who was found dead in an alley in the Venice area.

Officers were sent to the 600 block of Washington Boulevard at about 6 a.m. Tuesday after a passerby reported seeing what appeared to be a body on the ground between two homes, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Costa Karras, believed to have been in his 40s, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office and the LAPD.

Karras appeared to have suffered stab wounds, but the cause of death will have to be determined by the coroner's office, police said. No arrests were reported, and no suspect information was available.
