Los Angeles City Councilmember Tim McOsker, whose district includes the Port of Los Angeles, called the Supreme Court ruling upending the Trump administration's sweeping trade tariffs the correct decision.
“Certainty is going to be good for business,” he told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener. “It’s also going to be good for jobs, but it's really important to note that these tariffs were really just a tax on our residents because that's who paid for it and so the affordability crisis was fueled in large part by these illegal tariffs.”
McOsker also said he was “pleasantly surprised a bit” by the Supreme Court’s decision, adding that the justices haven’t regularly applied the law over the last year.
Meanwhile, President Trump said in a press conference Friday morning that he was “deeply disappointed” by the ruling and announced he would be signing an executive order to enact a 10% global tariff.
