A 66-foot mural was unveiled today at the Los Angeles Mission at Skid Row.
The mural is called "the heart of Skid Row."
The mural was painted by Kenny Scharf, a Los Angeles street artist who emerged from New York’s eclectic art scene with Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.
Although Scharf's work sells for hundreds of thousands of dollars, his mural for the LA Mission was done for free.
LA Mission Arts Council Chair Eli Graham says the mural is giving the LA Mission positive attention.
"It's kind of important in this weird way to have culture and art and everybody deserves it," Graham said.
Graham added that there are more people volunteering at the LA Mission.
