Los Angeles (KNX) - Some business owners in Torrance are upset, saying the city will no longer allow them to fly flags on city light poles.
LISTEN:
It's all about a law that has been around for a long time, but recently the city has decided to enforce it more strictly.
Adam Schwartz with the Downtown Torrance Business Owners Association tells KNX's Nataly Tavidian the city is tightening its policy only after his group put pride flags on SCE light poles.
"It's really sad, especially given that now we won't be able to use these poles at all to advertise our own events, something that we've been doing for what, 25 years," Schwartz said.
Bridget Lewis, a city of Torrance Council member, said, "We want to make sure that we are following existing policy from under SoCal Edison's guidelines."
Lewis said SCE regulations only allow traffic regulation signs, American flags, neighborhood watch signs, or signs for city-sponsored events.
