Talks between SAG-AFTRA and the union representing the studios and streamers were suspended Wednesday evening.
"Negotiations between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA have been suspended after SAG-AFTRA presented its most recent proposal on October 11," according to a statement from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, adding that the gap between the two is “too great.”

In their own statement, SAG-AFTRA accused the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers of using bullying tactics.
“Just tonight, they intentionally misrepresented to the press the cost of the above proposal – overstating it by 60%,” the union said. “They have done the same with A.I., claiming to protect performer consent, but continuing to demand “consent” on the first day of employment for use of a performer’s digital replica for an entire cinematic universe (or any franchise project).”
The actors’ union also said the studios and streamers “refuse to protect performers from being replaced by AI, they refuse to increase your wages to keep up with inflation, and they refuse to share a tiny portion of the immense revenue YOUR work generates for them.”
Entertainment attorney Jonathan Handel told KNX News’ Jon Baird this is a learning curve for the studios and streamers.
“They simply had not accepted that labor is not going to do deals at the at the levels and in the ways that were done in the past.” He said. “SAG-AFTRA has indicated that it has some specific goals and they are quite serious about them.”
The actors’ union has been on strike since July 14.
