LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A dog was given a second chance at life thanks to a South Pasadena family.

Strawberry, a two-year-old pit bull with a bump on her head, was nearly euthanized at the shelter until the La Belle Foundation rescued her, according to NBC L.A.

Now, the dog lived with the Kuhlman family.

Kristen Kuhlman said her family fell in love with Strawberry after doing a meet-and-greet.

“She was such a gentle, sweet dog and had the strangest bump on her head I'd ever seen and I love that about her,” she said.

She added that Strawberry is very popular with those who see her.

“She gets recognized when we go places,” Kuhlman said. “People roll down their windows, ‘Hey, Strawberry!’”

Strawberry is also very adored by the Kuhlman’s two kids, Jack and Claire.

“It's nice to have a dog back in the house because when Sadie, our old dog died, it was a little weird to not have a dog,” Jack said.

“I just like somebody to greet me when I come home from school every day,” Claire said. “It's really nice.”

Kristen told KNX News everyone deserves a second chance.

“There are so many good adoptable dogs out there that are being overlooked,” she said. “So consider adopting a dog.”
