A woman who translated for a vendor at the rally said the raids are causing a “constant terror among our street vendors.”
The Street Vendor Protection Act, written by State Senator Maria Elena Durazo, is aimed at preventing federal immigration enforcement agencies from accessing the personal information of street vendors.
“There's no reason whatsoever for us to share their information that they give in good faith to get a business license,” Durazo, who also attended the rally, told KNX News’ Karen Adams. “There's no reason for that to be shared with the federal government.”
Durazo said that street vendors have bear the brunt of the ICE raids, disrupting a $500 million industry in L.A.
