Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Division initiated a pursuit of a stolen Infiniti SUV around 9:30 p.m. Monday near Harvard and Hollywood boulevards in Hollywood. Police deployed multiple spike strips during the pursuit, which resulted in the SUV losing all four tires and causing it to become disabled on a curb, according to reports from the scene.
Initially, the suspect appeared to comply with the officers' orders by stepping out of the vehicle. However, he then returned to the SUV and barricaded himself inside, NBC 4 reported.
The LAPD requested a K-9 unit and asked the Los Angeles Fire Department to stage at a nearby command post.
After nearly an hour standoff, police deployed tear gas into the suspect's vehicle near Los Feliz Boulevard and Serrano Avenue and took the suspect into custody, CBS 2 reported
