More people are flying this Labor Day weekend, as Los Angeles International Airport said it is expecting over a million passengers to pass through the airport through Monday, Sept. 4.

Domestic bookings for flights, hotels, rental cars, and cruises are up 4% compared to last year, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California. International bookings are also up by 44%.

But with more people flying means more traffic expected at the airport.

KNX News’ Jon Baird said some people told him it took them half an hour to get through the terminal. One of those people was a man dropping off his wife and daughter at the airport.

“It’s horrible. It took me forever and I wouldn’t recommend it,” he said. “We should’ve walked the entire way, actually. It would have been faster.”

LAX encourages those traveling domestically to arrive at the terminals at least two hours before their scheduled departure. Those traveling internationally should arrive three hours prior to their scheduled departure.
