Bell Gardens Police are investigating a possible kidnapping in the 6500 block of Toler Avenue, south of E. Gage Avenue.

Surveillance video captured around 10:55 p.m. on Sept. 18, shows a silver two-door car driving northbound on Toler Avenue.

As it came to a stop, a man in a white hoodie appeared from the passenger side of the vehicle. He’s seen struggling with another person, who police believe is a woman, before she attempts to run away from the car.

The video shows the man run after her, grab her in a “bearhug” and carry her back to the car before he puts her back in and drives off. The car is believed to be a Honda S2000.

On Sunday the Bell Gardens resident whose surveillance camera caught it all on camera called police to report the altercation.

About 34 seconds into the video, police said they noticed the driver's door appeared to open after the woman was back in the car. They believe this indicates that either a third person was in the car, or the woman opened the car door before he got back in.

“Because it is unknown if a crime occurred, we are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and two subjects seen in the video,” BGPD said in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. B. Benson at (562) 806-7694.
