Detectives are searching for more witnesses in a deadly shooting at a beauty supply store in Compton.
It happened Sunday at the Pink Beauty Supply on East Alondra Blvd. at 3:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives said Zaque Sykes, 42, followed a woman into the store and groped her. When employees told Sykes to leave, he became aggressive, damaging merchandise, yelling at people.
“Employees and customers noted that the male had an object in his hand that they believed was a knife,” a press release by the department read. “The male made verbal threats that he was going to kill and harm everyone in the store.”
Detectives say one of the customers who had a personal handgun fired a warning shot. When Sykes turned toward her, she shot him in the chest.
