Spiller details the importance of prioritizing mental health and admits it’s a must with a career in music, especially while on tour.

“In terms of touring, I can only speak from experience,” he said. “Definitely try to get as much rest and drinking as less as you can  always helps. Touring is a lot easier when you’re not hungover every day and helps you function better on a day to day. That would be the advice I would give.”

He also preaches the positive impact music has on a lot of people’s mental health whether it’s their career or not. “I think, personally, music has always provided a level of escapism,” he shared. “But simultaneously as well, I think it helps to put things in perspective.”

Audacy's I’m Listening initiative aims to encourage those who are dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone. If you or anyone you know is struggling with depression or anxiety, know that someone is always there. Additionally, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 988.
