The Padres overcame a 5-run blown lead and came from behind to beat the Mariners 7-6 on Tuesday night. The Padres jumped all over Seattle starter Luis Castillo, scoring 5 runs in the 1st inning. Xander Bogaerts hit a 2-out RBI-single to to left field, and two batters later, Ramon Laureano launched a grand slam into the left field bleachers to put the Padres up 5-0 before Dylan Cease threw a pitch.

Cease was cruising early in the game, tossing three perfect innings to begin with. He loaded the bases in the 4th inning after retiring the first two batters, but escaped without any damage. Cease gave up a 3-run homer to Randy Arozarena in the 5th inning, and then issued a walk to Cal Raleigh before exiting the game. Jason Adam came in and after allowing a single to Julio Rodriguez, Eugeio Suarez hit a go-ahead 3-run homer, giving the Mariners a 6-5 lead.

The Padres responded immediately in the top of the 6th inning, when Jake Cronenworth laced an RBI-single into left field and Freddy Fermin executed a perfect squeeze play, allowing Laureano to score from 3rd base and take the lead. From there, Adrian Morejon, Mason Miller, Jeremiah Estrada and Robert Suarez each pitched a scoreless inning to lock down the win for the Padres. Yu Darvish will square off against Bryan Woo in Wednesday's series finale.
