The Padres ended their 5-game losing streak with a 10-8 victory at Coors Field against the Rockies on Saturday evening. The second inning featured plenty of fireworks, as the Padres hung six runs on the scoreboard, punctuated by Fernando Tatis Jr.'s 3-run blast, his 20th of the year. The Rockies responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, but the Padres still held a 6-2 lead.

The Padres posted another crooked number in their 4-run 5th inning, giving them a 10-2 lead. While that should have been enough of a cushion to give their high-leverage relievers the night off, Jeremiah Estrada allowed 4 runs in the 7th inning, including a 3-run home run by Jordan Beck, bringing the Rockies to within 3 runs. Mason Miller and Robert Suarez were brought in to pitch with the game in the balance in the late innings. Despite allowing a solo homer in the 9th inning to Mickey Moniak, the Padres held on for a 10-8 win to pull within a game of the Dodgers after their meltdown against the Orioles. Dylan Cease will take the mound for the Padres in Sunday's series finale with a chance to win the series and get even atop the NL West if the Dodgers lose as well.
