The Padres improved to five games above .500 with a 7-2 win over the Astros on Sunday evening, and more importantly winning the series two games to one. The Padres hit four home runs, with Fernando Tatis Jr. blasting a go-ahead 3-run homer in the 4th inning, that proved to be the team's decisive scores. After signing veteran outfielder Austin Hays earlier in the day, he hit a 2-run pinch-hit homer in his first at-bat in brown and gold to extend the Padres lead to 7-2. Randy Vasquez pitched well, allowing just 2 runs on a long ball hit by Daulton Varsho in the top of the 2nd inning. Craig Stammen was able to rest his highest leverage relievers as well due to the lead the offense built. The Padres remain one game back in the wild card race after the Diamondbacks and Phillies each won on Sunday as well. The Brewers come to town for a big series with the Padres beginning on Monday.
