The Padres' chaos pitching strategy worked to perfection on Wednesday, as Kyle Hart and Griffin Canning combined for 5.2 scoreless innings, turning the game essentially into a normal proposition for its bullpen at that point. The duo protected a 3-run lead that the Padres built, scoring all 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning after loading the bases with no outs. Jackson Merrill delivered an RBI-single to the opposite field, Luis Rengifo grounded out to first base and Gavin Sheets hit a sac-fly to bring in the three runs. The Rockies' lone run came in the 7th inning during their only threat of the game, but Bradgley Rodriguez got out of the jam while only allowing one inherited run to score. Jeremiah Estrada was activated prior to the game, and made his first appearance since June 2nd, and looked good while striking out the side in the 8th inning with Adrian Morejon unavailable. Mason Miller pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning to secure his 28th save of the season, as the Padres swept the 2-game series with the Rockies to move to 2 games above .500 with the Giants coming to town on Thursday for a 4-game series leading into Monday's trade deadline.
