The Padres won their second game in a row at Oracle Park, beating the Giants 5-1 to take the series after dropping the opening game on Monday night. Craig Stammen opted to use Bradgley Rodriguez as an opener before turning to Matt Waldron as a bulk relief option, and the plan worked beautifully. Rodriguez needed just seven pitches for a perfect first inning, before Waldron entered and struck out 7 while walking none and allowing just one run on two hits over the next five innings. With the score tied 1-1 in the 7th, Ty France entered the game as a pinch-hitter after a Tony Vitello opted to bring in a lefty to face Sung-Mun Song. With the count full, France hit a ball down the right field line that hit off of right fielder Jesus Rodriguez's glove, bringing home two runs and giving the Padres a 3-1 lead. Xander Bogaerts added a 2-run homer in the 8th inning, giving the Padres a 5-1 lead. Adrian Morejon struck out 4 over two scoreless frames, and Mason Miller struck out two in a perfect 9th inning to secure the win. The Padres return to Petco Park on Thursday for a 4-game series against the Cardinals.
