LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A judge has rescheduled arraignment procedings for a 20-year-old man facing trial in the shooting of a Las Vegas Metro police officer during a protest on the Las Vegas Strip.
Edgar Samaniego's attorney sought the delay Monday after a judge decided Friday there was enough evidence to try Samaniego on attempted murder, battery, assault with a weapon and firearms charges.
The June 1st shooting in front of Circus Circus critically wounded Officer Shay Mikalonis. He was shot in the head and is now paralyzed from the neck down. Samaniego remains jailed on $1 million bail pending his next court date on September 17th.
Mikalonis is receiving treatment at an undiclosed rehab facility out of state
