LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Students in the Clark County School District will start the 2020-21 school year at home this fall.
In a unanimous vote, CCSD Board of Trustees approved an all-online learning model for classes, with the school year beginning August 24th. Teachers will undergo two weeks of training and orientation beginning August 5th.
The decision comes as COVID-19 cases in southern Nevada spike, with trustees saying it was done with the safety of both students and teachers in mind.
Some rural schools will have the option to participate in in person classes because their COVID numbers are lower, but they must meet infection rate criteria and follow social distancing guidelines.
The board says the online only platform will continue to be evaluated as conditions warrant.
