Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - While many parents were hoping for a full return to the classroom soon for the Clark County School District, CCSD's Board of Trustees on Thursday approved taking baby steps first before allowing everyone to return.

CCSD’S board of trustees last night unanimously approved the beginnings of a plan to get students back in the classroom.

The board voted to start the process for kids between kindergarten and 3rd grades, but the return would be by small groups at first and would be by invitation only.

Priority would be given to those students seen as needing extra help.

“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to be very challenging for education,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “We will continue to make the health and safety of students and staff a top priority. As we continue to look at the academic and health crisis that the pandemic has caused, I believe that the plan proposed provides the first steps in returning our students and educators to the classroom.”

What wasn’t established last night was a timetable to begin the whole process.
