LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The high-speed train project currently in the works between Las Vegas and Victorville hasn't begun construction yet, but plans for the station in Las Vegas took a step closer to reality on Wednesday.

The Clark County Commission approved permits for the company Virgin Trains to build a station near the Strip. The station would be located on Las Vegas Boulevard between Warm Springs and Robindale across from the South Premium Outlets.

The permit is calling for a two-story building with a passenger terminal, retails shops as well as restaurants.  Virgin Trains aims to start construction next year.  It's projected that construction could take about three years and cost nearly five billion dollars.
