LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Nevada Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be crack sealing a 9-mile-stretch of State Route 159 from Blue Diamond Road to the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, through May 14.
No work will be done on the weekends. Friday and Monday are also work-free days.
Crews will be working in 1-mile increments, using flaggers and pilot cars to safely escort motorists through active construction zones. Trail head parking areas within work zones will be closed while flagging operations are active. Bicyclists, meanwhile, must still follow all applicable traffic laws, including stopping for flaggers.
“Crack filling prevents further roadway deterioration for a smoother, safer driving experience,” said NDOT spokesman Tony Illia. “It’s a cost-effective maintenance solution that extends the roadway’s lifecycle.”
Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible.
