LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Some rare good news, in the time of seemingly never-ending stories about the continuing toll (both of lives and jobs) from the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

The COVID-19 Nevada Task Force assembled by Governor Steve Sisolak said Thursday that they have been able to secure and procure a large amount of emergency supplies. The Governor has repeatedly expressed his frustration over the lack of federal response to Nevada's request for Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) for health care workers.

According to what was shared yesterday, that task force is already paying big dividends

The Nevada COVID-19 Response, Relief and Recovery Task Force, headed by for MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren, says it has secured 241,000 N95 or N95-equivalent masks, 1 million pairs of gloves, 2,000 surgical gowns, 700,000 surgical masks, and 100 gallons of hand sanitizer,

The items will be distributed by the state based on need, with help from the Nevada National Guard, which was mobilized Wednesday by the Governor.
