LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak has one less thing to be concerned about as he and other state officials fight the coronavirus pandemic.
A group that was ciruculating a petition to recall the Democrat failed in its efforts to get enough signatures before Wednesday's deadline.
The group Fight For Nevada had filed the petition back on Valentine's Day , and had 90 days to gather 243,995 signatures, or 25 percent of the Nevadans who cast a ballot in the 2018 election.
As of yesterday the group had only managed to garner 33,105 signatures.
Fight For Nevada had recently filed a request to have the time period in which to gather signatures extended, saying that stay-at-home orders and business shutdowns brought on by the coronavirus pandemic made getting signatures much more difficult,.
A judge denied that request, saying that since only slightly more than 15,000 signatures had been gathered by the group before stay-at-home directives went into effect on April 1st that it was unlkely to reach its goal with or without the shutdowns
