Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A massive 3-alarm fire fueled by gusty winds destroyed an under-construction apartment complex near Tropicana and Fort Apache early Tuesday.
Some nearby residents had to be evacuated, but there were no injuries. Embers from the fire started a few tree and dumpster fires, and a nearby apartment complext suffered some heat-related damge.
Firefighters will be on scene throughout the day on Tuesday to try and determine the cause. Initial estimates place the damage at somewhere between $25 and $30 million.
The complex, idenitifed as the Ely at Fort Apache, is a total loss. Its website said it would begin leasing units next month.
