Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Officials with NV Energy may be borrowing a page from the California playbook on how to lessen the chances for wildfires.

Extremely dry conditions combining with very high winds forecast for Friday have left left NV Energy mulling the possibility of shutting off power to a couple of areas in the Spring Mountains on Friday, beginning at 10am. See the affected areas here.

NV Energy says that if such an outage happens, it would last for roughly 24 hours. Affected residents have been informed of the utility's intentions.

NV Energy will open Customer Resource Center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Retreat at Charleston Peak, 2755 Kyle Canyon Rd. There, chargers for mobile devices, light snacks, water and outage updates will be provided.
