Las Vegas mayor Carolyn Goodman says going backwards doesn't matter at this point in dealing with the coronavirus crisis in the city, it's about going forwards.

In a wideranging eight-minute interview with "Vegas at 8" host Alan Stock Monday morning, Goodman says she's been assured by business leaders in the city that they have plans in place to restart operations once they get the go-ahead.

"They have plans in place there," said Goodman.  "They're not brain-dead or with their heads in the sand. They're anxious to do their part of the whole to get rid of this".

As for reopening say in early May, she says, ask the Governor.

"This is all about state laws, county laws, city laws, inspections on going all the time to make sure that we in Las Vegas to the world are presenting and have shown that we are a healthy and wonderful place to visit," said Goodman.  "And the longer we wait to open back up, the more difficult the opening is going to be."
