LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The City of Henderson on Monday announced it would temporarily suspend water service shutoff to residents, as businesses throughout southern Nevada shutter and the region adapts to a new, stay-at-home reality.
The directive should bring some semblance of relief to financially strapped water customers who have suddenly found themselves out of work. Customers who fear they will miss payments can contact Henderson’s Department of Utility Services’ Customer Care Center at 702-267-5900 to discuss their situation and make a payment arrangement.
Utilities including NV Energy and Southwest Gas have also halted shutoffs until further notice.
The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has led to the closure of Clark County School District schools and several of the Las Vegas Strip’s largest casinos, including Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts International properties and the Cosmopolitan.
In Henderson, the closures extend to all of the city’s recreation centers and pools, Henderson Pavilion events, courts, and a number of upcoming festivals and celebrations in March and April.
Henderson City Hall is also closed until March 23, and customers who can pay their bills may do so online through the city’s website.
