LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Search crews will be out again on Tuesday to look for a missing hiker out at Red Rock Canyon.
The man, identified as 33-year-old Ronnie Lucas, was supposed to return from his hike on the Oak Creek Canyon trail around 4:30 Sunday afternoon but never did.
Investigators say Lucas, who is a Type-1 diabetic, did have cellphone contact with his wife for a time, but then stopped answering his phone. Lucas' car was found in the Oak Creek Canyon parking area, which is about 2 miles from Red Rock's entrance.
Red Rock Search and Rescue says that Lucas packed only for a short day hike, and wasn't prepared for all the weather that rolled in on Sunday night, not to mention the cold, windy conditions experienced in southern Nevada overnight on Monday.
Crews will be out again at first light on Tuesday.
