Las Vegas is one of 16 cities JetBlue Airways has asked the U.S. Transportation Department to allow it to suspend service to through September 30.  Reuters reports Delta Air Lines and Spirit Airlines have also asked for similar suspensions to other U.S. cities, citing low demand.

JetBlue says in it's claim it will gradually return service to the cities when it becomes safe to do so, or at the first-sign demand begins to increase.

Earlier in April, the federal agency denied another request from JetBlue to suspend service to nine cities West of the Mississippi River.  They were granted a suspension of flights to and from Puerto Rico.
