LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The outbreak of coronavirus has now been labeled a pandemic by the World Health Organization, but Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman isn't happy about the "all coronavirus, all the time" news cycle we've entered into.
At the monthly meeting of the Las Vegas Convention And Visitors Authority, Goodman lashed out at the media's coverage of the virus outbreak and the panic that she feels that it's caused, saying "the media is absolutely destroying us".
So far, several high profile Las Vegas events have canceled over coronavirus fears, that latest of which being CinemaCon at Caesars and the Nation Association of Broadcasters Convention (although NAB has left the possibility open to reschedule at a later date).
With the suspension of the NBA regular season, announced Wednesday night, speculation continues to grow about whether the National Football League will cancel their 2020 Draft, scheduled for Las Vegas April 23rd-25th. There's been nothing on the matter from the league at this stage.
So far, more than 115,000 have been infected by the coronavirus worldwide, with a death toll of over 4,000.
