Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A court date is scheduled for Tuesday for a man who was able to climb on top a wing of an Alaska Airlines jet just before the plane was set to take off on Saturday.

Police were dispatched to an active taxiway just after 1:30pm on reports of a man walking on the wing of the flight that was preparing to head for Portland, Oregon.

Video taken by a passenger on the jet (Brooke Knight, twitter.com/SkipperBK13) shows the conclusion of the incident, where officers and firefighters attempted to get the man to safety.

Police suspect impairment or mental illness may have played a role in the man's actions.

He's been identified as 41-year-old Alejandro Carlson. Carlson, who police say is homeless, landed on his head when he fell off of the wing and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
