Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A mother accused of killing her two young children by drowning them in an apartment near Maryland Parkway and Desert Innmade her first court appearance on Tuesday.
Amanda Sharp-Jefferson was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Friday.
She faces two counts of murder.
The police report says that Sharp-Jefferson denied knowing the kids’ father or even having children. She told police she lived alone in her apartment and woke up on the morning of November 6th to two children in her living room that appeared to be dead. She claimed to police that someone was trying to set her up.
The father of the children said that nothing had seemed out of the ordinary up until the incident, though investigators say that Sharp Jefferson will definitely be examined for some sort of mental illness.
Another hearing is set for Thursday, when attorneys are expected to argue whether Sharp-Jefferson should continue to be held without bail.
