LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) -The Nevada Department of Agriculture says locals likely won't have to worry about Asian "murder hornets."

It was announced earlier this week that the hornets, which are actually called Asian giant hornets, were believed to have arrived in the Pacific Northwest through shipping cargo. But, the hornets thrive in wet weather conditions. Experts say the Nevada climate is too dry for the hornets, and locals are not likely to see them.

The giant bees entered the news cycle this week after they were spotted in Washington State and the western coast of Canada. The bees are known more for devastating honeybee nests than attacking humans, but enough stings can prove to be deadly

Anyone who thinks they have found a giant hornet are asked to send a photo to the Nevada Department of Agriculture.
