LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) has hit all 50 states and the District of Colombia, with thousands of positive tests and a death toll approaching 600.

A new study from the finiancial website WalletHub took a look, state by state, at how aggressive each state been in the fight against the coronavirus and they were none too happy with the Silver State's effort.

Nevada ranked 50th in the survey, besting only Mississippi.

WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 46 unique metrics, ranging from tested cases of COVID-19 per capita and state legislation on the pandemic to the uninsured population and share of the workforce in affected industries.

What's hurting Nevada most in the rankings was a last place finish in the "Economic Impact" category as our tourist-driven economy has screeched to halt with hotels closing and events like March Madness and the NFL Draft cancelling.

Nevada didn't do much better in other major categories, ranking 42nd in "Prevention and Containment", and 33rd in "Risk Factors and Infrastructure"

California was rated best in the "Most Agressive States" study, followed by Rhode Island, Maryland, New Hampshire and New Jersey.

Joining Nevada in the Bottom 5 were the aforementioned Mississippi, Arkansas, Idaho and Tennessee.
