LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - I-15 was closed in both directions for hours Wednesday night after an officer involved shooting just south of Primm.

California law enforcement was chasing a man suspected of murdering his mother in Kern County, California.

Fatal shots were fire just before the suspect, identified as Madison Adams, got into Nevada, but exact details of what happened have yet to be released by law enforcement.

California Highway Patrol opened up southbound lanes of I-15 just after 8pm, northbound lanes of I-15 remained closed for almost 15 hours.

The detour sent drivers east on State Route 164 (Nipton Road) to U.S. 95 at Searchlight, then north on U.S. 95 up to Las Vegas. That became a little more complicated thanks to a multi-vehicle wreck in that area.
