LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A local security guard who shot and killed a man at a 7-11 near Nellis Air Force base last week has been ordered held without bail.

Kegia Mitchell made her first court appearance Monday.

Police say that last Wednesday night, Mitchell got into an argument with a customer who she wouldn’t let into the store due to restrictions in place for the coronavirus. Words were exchanged, then things in the store became physical.

The fight spilled outside and the customer, identified as Thomas Martin, was shot and killed.

Police interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video before arresting Mitchell, who face charges of open murder.

Her preliminary hearing is set for October.
