Two LVMPD officers are under arrest for allegedly beating their own kid. Metro Police says its Criminal Investigation Section received information about a suspected child abuse incident involving the child’s mother, 26-year-old Destini Woodruff and stepfather, 29-year-old John Woodruff.
The investigation determined that on May 9, the couple struck the child multiple times in order to inflict pain, leaving the child with multiple bruises. The two were arrested Tuesday, and booked at Clark County Detention Center on charges of child abuse, conspiracy to commit child abuse and domestic battery by strangulation. The couple had been employed by the LVMPD since 2016 and were assigned to the Southeast Area Command, Community Policing Division. On Tuesday, Destini Woodruff was relieved of duty and placed on administrative leave without pay. As a result of a separate internal investigation, John Woodruff's employment with the LVMPD was terminated.
