UNLV President Marta Meana says Monday the majority of Fall classes will be in-person.   Her news came in a letter posted to the university community on Monday.  In it, she says the first in-person classes will actually take place at the start of Summer Session in July.

The plan is also to reintroduce in-person student services in phases, beginning this summer and incorporating social distancing. Updates will be shared with you and posted online. Faculty and staff will be meeting next week during a virtual town hall to discuss the logistics of opening up the campus as much as possible, given the circumstances. Your safety will remain at the forefront of our decisions and our actions.

She says there will be more classes taught remotely than in a typical semester this Fall.  Read the full letter here.

Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Thom Reilly on Monday offered what he termed options for resuming “some form of in-person instruction, campus housing and athletics events” for the summer and fall 2020 semesters.

A one-page letter didn’t provide specifics, but said science classes, for instance, might include online lectures and lab sessions with reduced student numbers.

The system includes University of Nevada campuses in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada State College in Henderson and community colleges around the state.

Reilly said officials are working with the Mountain West Conference and NCAA about the 2020-21 athletic season.
