LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Another casualty of the coronavirus pandemic: this year’s Veteran’s Day Parade.

Organizers of the parade, annually held downtown on November 11th, said there’s no way it could happen this year with the restrictions that are currently in place.

Las Vegas' Veterans' Day parade has been the largest one held west of the Mississippi each year. 2020 marks the first year the even has had to be canceled.

In related news, none of it good, Opportunity Village also announced two cancelations that raise big money for the charity- the Hall-o-Veen event in October and the Magical Forest event leading up to Christmas will not be taking place this year.

“Opportunity Village relies heavily on the support of our community to care for and employ people with disabilities. Fundraising events are necessary to support our programs and services but hosting those amidst the current challenges our community is facing, we believe would create unnecessary health risks. Hard decisions had to be made. The Las Vegas Great Santa Run and Camelot have both transitioned into virtual events out of concern for the health and safety of our guests and our community,” said President and CEO of Opportunity Village, Bob Brown. “Opportunity Village’s primary focus continues to be enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual and related disabilities. We will continue to reinvent ourselves to better serve people with disabilities throughout our community.”

Opportunity Village says they hope to hold the events once again in 2021
