LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) – While both Nevada and California wait for the Federal Railroad Administration to conclude an environmental impact study, Virgin Trains has submitted plans to Clark County detailing where the station for their high-speed rail would be located in Southern Nevada.
Right now the plan is to build the station on a large stretch of vacant land on Las Vegas Boulevard South across from the South Premium Outlets south of Warm Springs Road.
The entire lot is 110 acres but the station would only take up 14, allowing for future further development.
The plan for the train is a route between Las Vegas and Victorville. The project was first approved in 2011, but changes made by Virgin Trains required to FRA to study the new plans before any work can begin.
Best case scenario has that work starting late this year, with routes becoming operational in 2023
