
LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A wildfire burning about 15 miles south of Mesquite is down to around half of its original estimate.
The fire has been dubbed the Virgin Mountain Fire, and investigators say it began with a lightning strike on Monday.
The fire's orginal estimate was roughly 3,000 acres, but on Wednesday, the state's Bureau of Land Management estimated the size to be around 1,600 acres. The fire is currently at zero-percent containment.
There haven't been any injuries, no evacuations have been called for, and no structures have been threatened.
