
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake was felt from Las Vegas to Los Angeles Wednesday night. The USGS reports the quake struck just after 6:30 p.m. PT, south of Searles Valley, CA. It's about 125 miles West of Las Vegas.
Clearly, many of you had an experience around dinner time.
Several aftershocks of magnitude 2.5 and above shook the area closest to the epicenter within 30 minutes of the larger quake. Scientists say these are aftershocks to the series of powerful Ridgecrest earthquakes last July.
