Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A raging fire destroyed a vacant downtown wedding chapel and caused road closures along Las Vegas Boulevard on Tuesday night.

Wednesday, during their investigation into a possible cause, firefighters discovered a body in the burned-out wreckage.

Firefighters responded to building on Las Vegas Boulevard north of the Strat Hotel late Tuesday afternoon.

When firefighters arrived on scene, thick smoke was coming from the one story building which was boarded up and appeared secured. After it appeared the fire was growing in intensity so a second alarm was dispatched to the fire. During the height of the fire, there were 30 fire units with 70 fire personnel on scene battling the blaze.

The building was completely destroyed. Damage is estimated at $1 million.

Fire personnel from Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Clark County fire departments battled the blaze.
