LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The city of Las Vegas is sending out 100 compliance ambassadors to help educate businesses about the governor’s recent mask directive.
The compliance ambassadors will supplement the city’s business license and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers visiting locations to ensure compliance with the governor’s latest health directives.
Ambassadors, who are trained city staff, will not conduct enforcement actions for any identified violations, but may, as a city representative, provide education and resources to businesses. They will also report violations to the city business license staff.
Business license officers have been educating businesses about the governor’s mask mandate all month. While the goal is guidance and education, businesses that fail to comply can face fines and reinspection fees. Under the governor’s directive, face coverings are now required to be worn by individuals who are not exempt when in a public space.
So far, in the city of Las Vegas the following education and enforcement has taken place:
- Received 262 complaints in city limits
- Visited 1,402 businesses
- Issued 28 notices of correction
- Issued three civil penalty violations
