LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The city of Las Vegas officially opened a new fire station to serve the Ward 5 community on Thursday morning.
Fire Station 3 on Washington just east of Rancho replaces what was the oldest operating station in the city of Las Vegas.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman was joined by Councilman Cedric Crear and Fire Chief William McDonald for the grand opening ceremonies.
The cost of the new station is approximately $9.3 million. The previous Station 3 had been in service for 38 years.
The new station features a mural and a sculpture that were saved prior to the demolition of the old station. In addition, a new mural has been commissioned for the station, to be painted in the future.
