Clark County Cancelling Large Events At Its Parks And Rec Centers

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Due to continuing concerns about the spread of coronavirus, Clark County is canceling large community events scheduled to be held at its Parks and Recreation Department facilities until further notice.

The cancellations affect events expected to have an attendance of 250 or more including Tacos and Tamales at Desert Breeze Park on Saturday, March 28, and Jazz in the Park at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, on Saturdays May 9, 23, 16, 30 and June 6. Groups with reservation inquiries are directed to contact the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department at (702) 455-8200.

At this time, smaller classes, swim lessons and other activities and County community centers, aquatics facilities and parks will continue as scheduled. The Safekey program will continue to operate as long as Clark County School District schools remain open. The public will be notified of any additional changes.

While health officials advise that the risk of contracting coronavirus remains low in Southern Nevada, Clark County is taking this proactive step out of an abundance of caution to protect the health and safety of our community. Clark County officials are continuing to monitor the coronavirus situation in coordination with state, local and federal health officials and will keep the public advised of any updates.

As a result of coronavirus concerns, Clark County has implemented additional cleaning andsanitizing efforts in all our facilities. Hand sanitizer stations have been added in some areas, and signage has been posted throughout county buildings encouraging regular hand washing, good cough and sneeze etiquette, and other recommended hygiene practices to limit the spread of viruses.
