LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - While vaccines for the coronavirus continue to be furiously worked on, another way to possibly fight it is happening at a Henderson hospital today.
Tuesday, there's a COVID Convalescent Plasma drive at St. Rose Siena Hospital at Eastern and St. Rose Parkway. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The hospital wants to take plasma from patients who have recovered from the coronavirus. That plasma it contains antibodies that the Food and Drug Administration is allowing transfusions as an investigational treatment. President Trump touted such treatments earlier in the week.
Eligible donors are people who have had COVID-19 symptoms, along with:
- A prior laboratory diagnosis of COVID-19
- Complete resolution of symptoms for at least 28 days
- Donors must be previously screened and scheduled. Walk-ins are not allowed.
